Arkansas Medicaid

Medicaid is run by the state. Here is where Arkansas residents apply, and how it fits with other coverage.

Who runs Medicaid in Arkansas

Medicaid in Arkansas is administered through Arkansas Department of Human Services (DHS) -- ARHOME. Eligibility and applications are handled by the state, not by an insurance agency, and there is no charge to apply.

If your Medicaid changes or ends

Losing Medicaid can open a special enrollment period to buy marketplace coverage. Act quickly, because the window to enroll after losing coverage is limited. You can call us to talk through the options, or contact the marketplace directly.

Medicaid and Medicare

Some people have both. If you are 65 or older, or disabled, and qualify for Medicaid, your state may help pay Medicare costs. Arkansas SHIIP (Senior Health Insurance Information Program) can explain this for free.
